BG used AK’s offensive scheme against our D. The motion really confused the D especially the secondary. The secondary was horrible. They got picked off on rubs, didn’t exchange well, and tackled like my mother in law. They just looked awful. My biggest concern is that Franklin can’t seem to get the teams to be in every game especially after big wins or brutal losses. His 1-0 mentality sure didn’t carry in this game. We need to have that killer instinct like Alabama where they seem to never take anything for granted. And what’s up with our crowd? The lowest turnout for an opener since 2019! The crowd was generally flat with the exception of a few bursts when the team needed help. The fact that they allowed some dude to bring a Trump political sign into the north end zone guaranteed the team would be jinxed that day. Who the hell goes to a football game to be political 😂. PSU’s lack of linebacker depth will come back to bite it. And the Abdul Carter at DE isn’t working.

Another possible perspective is that this will keep them from getting cocky. Previously we didn't have hard games until later in the season. Something like this will keep them from becoming complacent.

Allar has really come of age this year. We'll see how he does against B10 competition, but the scheme looks viable his touch is very good, and he knows when to take off and run (and did you see that throw across his body as he ran to his right? Just great stuff). This bodes well for the offense. The defense... yes, outcoached, yes, bad tackling, yes, poor inability to adapt to the other team's offense. Penn State is physically more gifted, but boy, the D really needs some help. They've got two weeks to right the ship. Let's hope the use the time wisely. And let's give the MAC some credit here. They don't get the 4 & 5 star athletes, but they get scrappy guys overlooked and they have a strong desire to beat the teams that wouldn't offer them a scholarship.

Penn State's passing game is too slow. They are not getting the WRs involved. There were only 13 receptions on Saturday. Warren had 8 of them. The passing game has to be quicker and more precise. OSU will eat up slow-developing pass plays. Allar is going to get sacked instead of scrambling for first downs. They have a lot of work to do in the coming weeks.

While penn state is barely winning against unranked teams such as bowling green, At home, their benchmark competitors are playing big name teams including those in the top ten. Franklin suffers from several key problems: The linebackers are among the worst in the league; He has high turnover of coaching staff; And when he is not playing big ten teams, Franklin chooses to play Teams like delaware and bowling green that have no place On their schedule. Of course, Franklin knows how To play the game politically: Fill the stadium every week, Produce a winning season, And get to a bowl. He is on his twelfth season and still hasn't produced a championship team. And what does franklin lack????? Certainly not money. The facilities are the best in the nation, including one of the best stadiums. He has one of the biggest and best alumni followings. The state and the school administration completely support him. He has some of the best new freshman recruits in the nation. That's right, franklin lacks for nothing. But he suffers from high coach turnover and anyone who has studied business knows that this fact is a giant Red flag. And, that there is a serious problems at the coaching leadership level. But let us set all those issues aside and simply look at the facts. He can't produce a championship team. Look at franklin's record against top Ten opponents and he loses something like Three times more than he wins. He simply cannot and does not have the ability to produce a championship team. Penn state should demand more from their head coach because they are giving him everything he needs. Franklin should be fired and replaced. But that takes leadership, And I seriously doubt if Penn State University or the state of Pennsylvania has leadership capability. Because if they did, Franklin's contract would have been based on producing a championship team or he would have been fired. Poor leadership equals mediocre performance. And that's what you have with franklin. So don't expect penn state to ever get a championship under franklin.

We were flat and our D, especially, was unimaginative. BG, on the other hand, treated this as a big, big game. It happens. BG is a good team, they’re gonna win a lot of games. Great OL, great RB, very good QB and WRs. Decent D. So you’ve got a good team ready to play lights-out, and a great team that’s taking the game for granted. Perfect trap game.

As usual, both lines were unstable. O line was poor in pass pro, D line was bossed overall. Good they picked it up in the 2nd half, though it was closer than it should have been. Just wondering why they couldn't have made the D adjustments earlier than the 2nd half. They have a "TON" of work to do over the bye week to fix the weaknesses. As of now, they are 2nd tier to the big boys.

Need to move #11 back to LB. He is too much "in a box" on the line.

Look at who The benchmark competitors of Penn State are playing. And they were not losing 3 out of 4 quarters. It's very clear that Franklin has a problem and that is high turnover of coaching staff. And now on his 12th season he has yet to produce a championship team despite having every single advantage: facilities, funding, support from the administration and the staff, alumni, one of the best stadiums in the nation, and the list goes on. And look who Penn State plays - unranked teams and teams that aren't even in their division. Why aren't they playing top name teams instead of schools like Delaware and bowling Green. Why not Clemson. Why not Colorado, or many other teams that are far far better. The fact is that Franklin is unable to produce a championship team. He's getting Penn State to a bowl and helping to fill the stadium, thereby satisfying the low expectations of his bosses. The bar needs to be set higher and he should be given three more seasons to produce a championship team. And if he cannot then he should be booted and replaced. In my opinion he doesn't have the ability to produce a number one team. Michigan does. Ohio state does. And look at Penn state's abysmal record when it comes to winning against top 10 teams. Franklin is mediocre and his record proves it. He can't produce a championship team and he can't beat the big name top 10 teams. Franklin is second tier and always will be.

I said last week that the MAC teams are not necessarily pushovers. That was a pretty good team, well coached, decent defense, and their QB was pretty good as well. And it was a great game plan against PSU. But you know what you call the team who ends with more points than the other team? A winner.

penn state got very lucky today, bowling green made errors and bowling green should have won today

It wasn't the refs, bla bla bla, we have had 3rd down problems for the past 5 years even when we were good. Same old crap, no WRs and way too many yellow flags, 1st tom allen got schooled.

#1 - again, PSU gets no help from the officials. Holding penalty when a d-lineman falls down and drags the tackle down with him - killed a PSU drive early. Then BG gets a drive extended on a PI penalty that looked like just a very good play on what was an uncatchable ball anyways. #2 The defense could not tackle worth a damn. It was taking 3 defenders to drag down any BG player in the 1st half - many times, they still couldn't get the ball carrier down. Best they could do was stand him up and wait for the whistle. #3 I am so tired of seeing lesser teams come in with clearly bigger and stronger players across the board. I mean, Izzy Mandelbaum finally retired....but we need a WAY better strength and conditioning program than what is in place.
